Everything Is Made in China
[bold]Everything is made in China[/bold] aka [bold]Eimic[/bold] is a russian electronic band formed in 2005 in Moscow. Current band members are Maxim Fyodorov (vocals, guitar, keyboards) and Sergey Govorun (drums). EIMIC cannot be compared with any of the bands growing and ceasing within the russian indie scene, which remains dubious in the very fact of its existence. The band's early music is oftenly dubbed as post-rock or indie-rock, however, their later works are heavily influenced by electronic music and are oftenly described as psychedelic pop / experimental pop. They sing in English, however, they do not accentuate on lyrics and seems, at the moment vocals are just another instrument to experiment with.
Their first release "4" appeared in summer 2007 at a canadian recording studio "Chemical Sound" in Toronto, Ontario. Supported by the internet campaign this album received good critics and inchoated successful touring in Russia. Rolling Stone pronounced eimic to be the most promising russian post-rock band.
Their second album "Automatic Movements" (also recorded at Chemical Sound studio) was released in 2009. On this album the band started to lean towards more song-oriented music, parting ways with post-rock influences which were present on their debut album.
Drummer Alexey Zotov left the band shortly after the album release, and Alexander Bykov took his place.
In 2012, EIMIC released two singles, "Parade" and "Illusion". These two releases marked a change in the band's musical style, featuring experiments with samples and more synthesizer-based sound.
Their third album "Amber" was released in 2013, сontinuing the band's style evolution. At the time of the album release, EIMIC started to label themselves as an electronic band.
The following year, the band released a single "Through Daybreak / Into the Dark", and a remix EP. There were plans for an album release later that year. However, the band went on hiatus, which was officially announced only in 2015. Later in 2015, it was announced that Philip Prem'yak has left the band.
In late 2016, EIMIC announced their return. New single "Animal Fight Club (Part1&2)" was released. Also, the band played their first show as a duo, consisting of Maxim Fyodorov and new drummer Sergey Govorun (formerly of Мои Ракеты Вверх and 7раса).
The band's fourth album "Acquired Taste" was released in 2017.
